Yes, the heater’s on and the water’s perfect, holds a steady 80–82° all winter!

In an effort to balance pool usage and give everyone more swim options this winter, all practices are combined and open to all skill levels. Adaptive sets and lane modifications will be made for swimmers who fit the Guppy Group description.

Winter Swim Season: Nov 1st - Feb 28th 2026

Morning Swim Practices (Sherwood Park Pool)

  • Mon / Wed / Fri: 1-hour and 1.5-hour swim workouts offered, 5:30–6:30 AM and additional 30 min to 7:00 AM for those wanting more distance.
  • Thursday: One-hour (5:30 AM - 6:30 AM) specialty technique session focused on skill development / low distance. Check the calendar for each week’s topic. Concludes for the winter season on January 29th 2026.
  • Saturday: One-hour swim workout open to all 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM

Midday Swim Practices (Sherwood Park Pool)

  • Mon / Tues / Thurs / Fri: One-hour swim workout open to all 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM

Swim Groups

  • Mahi Group: Intermediate to advanced
  • Guppy Group: Developmental
  • Combined: Everyone swims together; Guppy lanes get modified intervals and distances.

Spring Swim Season: March 1st 2026 - May 15th 2026

Beginning March 1

Monday / Wednesday / Friday (Morning) Sherwood Park Pool, (Melbourne, FL)

  • 5:30–6:30am
  • 5:30–7:00am 1.5 hr option
  • 6:30–7:30am new second start time

The early extended session will likely trend more Mahi group and more overall swimmers.

The 6:30am start will likely trend more Guppy group and be lightly attended

All sessions remain open to all swimmers.

Thursday (New Morning Session) Sherwood Park Pool, (Melbourne, FL)

  • 5:30–6:30am

* Active recovery emphasis for Mahi group swimmers
* Skill development focus for Guppy group swimmers
* Open to everyone

Noon Sessions Sherwood Park Pool, (Melbourne, FL)

Monday / Tuesday / Thursday / Friday

  • Noon - 1:00pm, remain unchanged.

Saturday

* 6:00–7:00am

We will need to clear the pool promptly at 7:00am as another team likely follows us.

Guppy Group - Ideal for beginners focusing on stroke fundamentals

Novice to Intermediate

Guppy Group Ideal for beginners focusing on stroke fundamentals and the former "swammer" just getting back to the pool after a long break. This is not a learn how to swim session. Swimmers need the ability to swim 25 yards continuously, one length of the pool. Guppy sessions are very small in size and focus mainly on freestyle with optional stroke work, using a beginner-friendly approach to enhance swim technique. Participants can expect to swim approximately 800 – 1,800 yards (based on ability) during a one-hour coached guppy session.

Mahi Group - Designed for intermediate to advanced swimmers who can confidently swim 400 yards freestyle without breaks.

Intermediate to advanced

Mahi Group Designed for intermediate to advanced swimmers who can confidently swim 400 yards freestyle without breaks. Sessions include a mix of freestyle and other strokes, kicking, drills, and challenging intervals. Expect to cover 2,500–3,000 yards in a one-hour session and 4000+ yards in a 1.5-hour coached morning session. This is the training group for swimmers that want to challenge themselves and take their swimming to the next level.

Combined Group - In these sessions, we integrate the Guppy and Mahi groups, assign swimmers to lanes based on their swim ability

Novice to advanced

Combined Group In these sessions, we integrate the Guppy and Mahi groups, assign swimmers to lanes based on their swim ability, and adjust distances and intervals as needed. This setup is ideal for Guppy swimmers who are thinking about advancing to the Mahi group, allowing them to train alongside peers of similar abilities.
